Children can learn much from books and the Internet but museum artefacts and other primary sources, such as photographs, documents and oral history recordings, really bring history alive. The Museum has a collection of curriculum linked handling boxes for hire to schools/organisations:

The Victorians
Ballymena and the Second World War
The Distant Past
The 1950s & 1960s
The 1970s.

These sets can be borrowed by a teacher for two weeks (£15) or one week (£10) and come complete with an information pack, teachers resource material and activity sheets.

Societies/organisations are also welcome to hire the loan boxes out.

The collection and return of the box is the responsibility of the school/society/organisation.
