General Access

The Braid Ballymena Town Hall Museum & Arts Centre is firmly committed to enabling all our customers to participate in our events equally and with dignity and respect. We aim to be accessible to all, offering a varied programme of events and exhibitions, providing special facilities to meet the needs of our customers.

Guide Dogs: Hearing Dogs & Guide Dogs are welcome

Sensory: Signage throughout the building is easily read and all edgings are clearly marked

Wheelchairs

The Braid benefits from one of the modern inclusive environments within Northern Ireland, where each area within the Centre is accessible for people using Wheel Chairs.

However accessibility does not end with providing customers with access to the various attractions within the Centre. The design and layout of the building also provides an opportunity for individuals with limited mobility to access equipment and use the interactive equipment which make the Museum and Arts centre the major attraction that it is.

Access to the Theatre

Customers who require particular seating arrangements in order to accommodate difficulties they may have in attending performances should contact the Box Office.

There are six wheel chair positions within the main auditorium should you require one of these please advise the Box Office Staff.

Toilets

The Braid has twelve disabled toilets throughout the Centre.

All our toilets have emergency call systems installed to provide our customers reassurance.

Each block of toilets allows for individuals with right hand and left-handed impairments.

Parking

Car parking for people with disabilities is available within the main Church Street car park which is directly opposite the Braid centre.
Additional on street parking is planned immediately opposite the Centre in the near future.

Cloakroom

The cloakroom is located on the same level as the Main Auditorium. The cloakroom benefits from a lowered counter.

Facilities for accessible toilets are also available within the Cloakroom area.

Hearing

Theatre - To enhance sound for the hearing impaired, an Infrared audio enhancement system is available. Infrared headphone receivers are available although the system will operate with hearing aids set to "T".
