Jewellery Making Course - Beginners

Are you interested in making your own jewellery? Or perhaps you have bits and pieces of jewellery that you’d like to be able to repair.... If so, this class is for you! You will learn about a wide range of jewellery components and how to use them to construct your own unique pieces. With a huge number of gorgeous beads on offer, you will make several items over this three-week course. You do not need any previous experience to attend this class. Typically you will make a number of necklaces, bracelets and pairs of earrings as well as bag charms, key chains, brooches, pins and mobile phone charms. You will also have the opportunity to explore repairs and re-use of broken jewellery.

If you have completed the Beginners Jewellery course, or the Full Day Beginners course, or if you have some jewellery making experience and want to learn more, then this course can offer you the opportunity to explore new materials and work on combining the components and materials you have used previously in more complex designs. You will be encouraged to try out new ways of using the materials, including bead weaving, wire work and chain-maille. You will make several pieces of jewellery including woven necklaces and bracelets, charm bracelets, wire wrapped earrings and pendants, wire-worked bracelets and pins as well as construction of jewellery components. There will also be an opportunity to look at jewellery repairs. 

Pastel Painting

For beginners and those with some experience, a great class covering technique, materials and subjects to paint. Come along to this pastel painting Class where you will look at learning and improving pastel painting techniques. The tutor will help students to produce better paintings and above all enjoy themselves 

Ballroom Dance Class

This class will teach the skills involved in creating those ‘strictly come dancing’ style of moves! Taught by championship teachers with over thirty years of experience participants will improve their skills in the Cha Cha, Jive, Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot and more! No dance partner needed! Everyone welcome.

Do you love flowers? Well then this is the course for you! Come along and learn about seasonal flowers, conditioning and maintaining flowers and foliage. You will learn simple but effective and stylish flower arranging techniques which you will be able to take home every week and display pride of place in your home or give them to someone as a gift and make them smile!

Expressive Painting

Expressive Painting Class for Adults featuring a days workshop of creative painting in Acrylics and Mixed Media, Life Drawing/ Still Life and Expressionist themes.

 

Set Dancing – An Introduction to…

 

Date: Saturday 25th September:

Time: 10am – 12.30

Cost: £10

Where there is music there are feet tapping, and a desire to dance. The two feed off each other and create a union that may be unique to a particular country, area or county. Set Dancing is a form of social dance that reflects the music and dance of this part of Europe. It originated in Europe and the form of the dance was brought back by from the Napoleonic wars and then local musicians provided the tunes for the dancers. The dances evolve and continue to, the revival of Sets from as far away as Australia & America where an Antrim Square Set & Lough Neagh Set have become increasingly popular. This will be an opportunity to introduce this form of dance to you.

 

Candle Making

 

Date: Saturday 16th October

Time: 10am – 4pm (lunch 12.30 – 1.30pm)

Cost: £20 (includes all materials)

In this one day workshop you will learn how to: roll, shape and decorate beeswax sheet candles, decorate pillar candles, create gel candles in luscious jewel colours, make scented paraffin wax tin candles, design beautifully decorated tins and holders and create moulded beeswax candles. No previous experience required!

 

Card Making

Time: 10am – 4pm (lunch 12.30 – 1.30pm)

Heather from Rag Button will demonstrate her techniques and share her ideas to provide you with the skills and enthusiasm to create a range of hand made cards.  Helping you to get ahead in the run up to Christmas or for any occasion and by heat embossing, die cutting and stitching you will be able to create unique embellishments for your cards.

 

Christmas Crafts

With Christmas just around the corner, this fun and festive workshop will give you a chance to make some extra special gifts and some unique decorations for your home. At the end of the day you can expect to be going away with a least 6 of the following (and lots of ideas for other projects!) – tree toppers; decorated baubles; cards; decorations – angels, elves, snowflakes, jewels, parcels, stars; table centrepiece; wreathes and garlands; special gift wrapping techniques.

Jungle Jingle

Proving it’s never too early to start your musical career, let your children take part in this exciting music, art and movement workshop inspired by the animals and noises of the jungle – all cheeky monkeys welcome!

How to join in
To enrol for all classes and workshops please call into The Braid Arts Centre, Bridge Street, Ballymena via the new doors on Bridge Street. From there, simply fill in the enrolment form and parental consent form and pay the fee.


No telephone bookings can be taken except when enrolling for an adult class.

Adult Classes are open to anyone aged 16+

Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parental consent form completed by their parent/guardian.

The Braid Arts Centre is open for you to enrol from 9.00am to 5.00pm (Monday to Friday) and 10.00am to 4.00pm (Saturday)
