Past Exhibition: International Art Exhibition: North of Myth and North of Home

A print exhibition featuring work from internationally renowned artist Joyce Majiiski and local artist Maurice Orr.  PLEASE NOTE: Gallery has restricted opening hours: 10am - 3pm

Mid-Antrim Museum at The Braid, Ballymena presents an international collaborative exhibition of prints by Northern Irish artist, Maurice Orr and Canadian artist, Joyce Majiski. The exhibition is the result of an international cultural exchange between both artists, who share a love of exploring new places and their natural surroundings.

Having previously worked mainly in the medium of paint, in 2013 Maurice Orr travelled to Canada to develop new skills in printmaking. He visited the remote Yukon Territory in the north-west corner of Canada to work with artist Joyce Majiski, after learning the basics of monoprinting techniques at Ground Zero printmaking studio in Victoria, British Columbia. From Majiski's studio near Whitehorse, the two artists observed the local landscape and created a series of collaborative monoprints.

Majiski presents her own collection of intriguing multi-layered digital prints, North of Myth, alongside these collaborative pieces. North of Myth was first exhibited at the Yukon Arts Centre in 2015, and the Ballymena leg of this tour represents her first international exhibition.
