Women's Memories of Farming Life in the Glens Reminiscence Project in the Glens of Antrim

12 January 2015

A six week reminiscence project focussing on farming memories has taken place in the Glens of Antrim. The project was a partnership between the Northern Health and Social Care Trust and Reminiscence Network Northern Ireland and was funded by the Public Health Agency.

The Glenravel Reminiscence Group met for six weeks from 20th October to 24th November 2014 and each week a group of local ladies recounted their farming memories of times gone past. This was done through story-telling and music and included a visit to Mid-Antrim Museum’s ‘Rural Life in the 1940s’ exhibition.

As part of the project the participants created their own memory pictures and some of these are currently on display in the museum as part of the Rural Life exhibition.
