Ways of Seeing, A Sense of Place - encouraging place making for communities, a 'Sense of Place' for individuals and promoting civic stewardship of built heritage.

28 August 2014

The importance of built heritage, history and their connected stories is significant in regional identity. The way we see these sites and landmarks can instil a sense of place in a community and individual locality.

Ways of Seeing: A Sense of Place is a community engagement initiative by Mid-Antrim Museums Service designed to encourage community awareness of the significance of built heritage through local histories and stories stimulated by art collections held within the service. Through the centuries architecture and the environment has been depicted through art in its various forms. Mid Antrim Museums Service Art Collections reflect this, holding art works of provincial significance, principally from the 19th and 20th Centuries. The Project will culminate in a touring exhibition travelling to Mid-Antrim Museum, Ballymena; Museum at The Mill, Newtownabbey; Carrickfergus Museum & Civic Centre and Larne Museum and Art Centre in 2015-16.
